We want to debunk some of the myths that surround wellbeing and help people focus on what really works

Oliver Burkeman

Video Arts has partnered with the Guardian and New York Times writer, Oliver Burkeman, for the latest collection in the award-winning Essentials Series of videos, courses and infographics.

The Wellbeing Essentials will be launched Summer 2017 and is designed to help employees improve their wellbeing at work; and the wellbeing of those around them.

Burkeman will consult with Video Arts to help them apply the latest thinking around motivation, wellbeing, positivity, mindfulness and resilience to create a set of credible learning points that are easy to digest and adopt.

Sally Winter, head of content at Video Arts, said, “Topics around happiness and wellbeing at work are notoriously difficult to deliver well. With the Wellbeing Essentials we knew we had to keep our resources grounded in psychological fact and avoid the general ‘cheer up / put a brave face on it / ‘Get Motivated’ messages that permeate this space. Oliver’s approach to ‘happiness for people who can’t stand positive thinking’ resonates with our own irreverent view to some of the workplace training initiatives around positivity, so he was the obvious choice for consultant on the series.”

Oliver Burkeman said, “It’s a pleasure to be involved in Video Arts’ campaign to improve employee wellbeing. If we can debunk some of the myths that surround these issues and help people focus on what really works, then we’ll have produced a really useful resource.”
